A piece of metal is not necessarily silent when it deforms. Pure indium, a soft, malleable metal, can produce a high-pitched sound when folded. The Royal Society of Chemistry approximates this effect to the phenomenon known as the tin cry.
The term Cree is an acoustic comparison. There is no throat, no breathing, no pain behind the sound. The deformation of a material can be accompanied by vibrations; our words simply borrow from the living to describe a surprise from matter.
Indium also has another feature noted by the chemistry company: it retains its flexibility and ease of operation at very low temperatures, which is of interest to some specialized equipment. The metal that is summed up in its brilliance therefore has a whole mechanical behavior. To discover it, the eyes are not always the only useful instrument.
What we know
Its related to the deformation of certain metals; no property of pain or life, no generalization to all metals.
