Did you know that a team of five AI agents beat world champions in a real-time game? On 13 April 2019, OpenAI Five faced OG in Dota 2. This time, decisions also had to be coordinated between five players. In this game, the team must manage movement, resources and objectives while its opponents act. The five agents do not win separately: they play together. The animated map explains this principle without pretending to show the real match.
The result is two consecutive wins against OG. But this version uses a choice limited to seventeen heroes. She didn’t win The International tournament, and the result doesn’t cover all the rules or possible characters in the full game.
What is striking here is cooperation in a situation that is changing without delay. An artificial team learns to act collectively within this specific framework. The animation remains an original explanation, not a capture of Dota two or visual evidence of a particular historical action.
